2 Months of Mommy and Daddy Bliss

This picture was taken today. As you can see Olivia's dress was not able to button in the back. When we first got her the dress was wayyyy to big, not today her belly is getting to big....hahahahahaha....I love it!!

I was feeding her breakfast the other morning and forgot to turn off the TV. Being lazy I did not want to walk the short distance and turn it off so I turned her highchair around! Well, little miss smarty pants still found a way to watch Little Ensteins through the hole in the back of the high chair!

We have been home for 2 months today!! I can not believe that I am not dreaming of holding my daughter anymore! She can actually run into my arms!! WHOA!!


It still amazes me that we traveled to China to get this precious gift! I was asked the other day why we chose China and I simply answered, "because that is where I knew my daughter was"! What else was I to say? I just had a pull to China! You know the whole red thread!


Some days I do not want to get up at 630, I have never been a morning person, but when I walk into Olivia Jade's room, I somehow forget all of my tiredness and again thank God for what He has given me. We still have our challenging days, with more to come I am sure, but I would not change where I am in my life for anything in the world! I am very happy with my life and all that He has given me, challenges and all!


Ok, so this was started yesterday, I did not have a chance to post it! Sooooo, here ya go!

Adoption Picnic

Today we attended an adoption picnic hosted by our Adoption Agency. Olivia did very well to be around so many new people. She even allowed the clown to make her a ballon apple. After the 3rd trip to see him. The first time Daddy and Olivia were in line and she saw the clown she turned around, located me and started running as fast as her little legs would let her! The second trip she slithered through Daddy's legs backwards and was back paddling back to Mom. The third time Daddy and Olivia walked up and then I joined a few minutes later, she stayed but she was in my arms hanging on for dear life! HAHAHA

After we left the picnic we went to Wegman's (a local grocery market) to get some green beans, apples and a few other things so that we could continue to can! YES, we are canning! We made raspberry jam, apple butter, and green beans! YUM YUM The smells are bringing back such great memories of being a kid and canning in the sweltering kitchen of my Grandmothers kitchen! WAYYYY before air conditioning! WHOA!! Chris is really getting excited about the process of being able to can meats! He is marinating some pork to make pork sausage! That I am sooo looking forward to sinking my teeth into! There is nothing like homemade sausage!

Amazed!

It is hard to believe that we have been a family for 7 weeks! Each day I look at my daughter in pure amazement, there isn't any food she will not try! Although, if she does not like it, you better be prepared to watch it come back to you. Amazing! As I watch her run around naked in my kitchen at 755pm she walks over to the potty and almost makes it! Amazing!! My mother was correct, it is more training me than her, obviously I do not have her signs down yet! She is becoming more and more affectionate each day. She will actually walk up to me now for a hug or kiss. She will even walk over to me and freely give me a kiss without me having to ask for one! Amazing! Could she possibly understand that I am her Mama and not just the caregiver? Amazing! I also find myself often thinking of the woman who gave Olivia to us! I wonder if she is ok! I never believed that I would think of her so often, but I truly am thankful for her! Amazing! Each night while giving my prayer of thanksgiving to the Heavens she always seems to enter the prayer. I have asked myself many many times why I continue to pray for her, the answer is very clear, without her I would not have my amazing daughter! I am so very lucky and thankful for everything I have and where I am in my life! My prayers of Thanksgiving are unending!!

I look back at the pictures we took in China and I see a scared, nervous and uncertain little girl. I look at pictures of her from a few days ago and I see a child coming into her own, testing her Mama and Daddy, a smile on her lips and a twinkle in her little eyes!! Sharon you were right, I do see a major difference from pictures taken in China to pictures taken yesterday and even today.

Olivia now has 12 strong teeth. And I do mean strong, she has gotten me a couple of times! OUCH! Hmm, maybe I should keep my finger out of her mouth! HAHAHA

Update

Things are going very well here in Rochester. Olivia is changing more and more everyday! It is truly hard to believe just how much she has changed!!
